Very Inspiring Blogger Award

20140429-112657.jpg

Once again, I’d actually never heard of this award until Hafsa Baba nominated me for it, but I’m still very pleased! It’s amazing to be so appreciated so early on in my blogging adventure! Thank you so much Hafsa. From the research I did, I found this –

It is an award for a fellow blogger that you find inspiring, or brings inspiration to those who read their work.

It had some rules too which go as follows:

Display the Award Certificate on your website
Announce your win with a post and link to whoever presented your award
Present the award to deserving bloggers
Drop them a comment to tip them off after you’ve linked them in the post
Post 7 interesting things about yourself.

So these are the bloggers that I’d like to give this award to. They all either write inspirational pieces of prose and poetry, give me ideas and something to think about or write things that you just can’t help reading. I’d recommend all of their blogs.

Exploring Life As A Mom

No Talent For Certainty

Embrace The Crazy

Straggler

Tragic Escape

Now for the “7 interesting things” about me, which incase you actually follow all my posts, you’ll notice are the same 7 things from my last award nomination…but come on, I’m really not that much of an interesting person!

1. I’m sure this is obvious from my posts recently, but I’m currently 14 weeks 6 days pregnant. It’s my first child. I was told I couldn’t have children, so when I saw the little blue plus sign on the pregnancy test it was a little bit of a shock! But it’s all very exciting and although it caused problems between me and my partner at first, we’re now closer than ever.

2. I’m a masochist.

3. I’m actually a very lonely person. I’ve never been a natural at making friends or talking to people I don’t know, it always takes quite a long time for me to feel comfortable around someone. I have my family, my boyfriend, one or two friends that I never see anymore, and everyone else I speak to is online. It’s much easier online, don’t you think?

4. I think that deep down I am a bad person. People disagree, obviously, but I have always felt that if I was truly open with myself, even I would be surprised with what I’m capable of.

5. I’m more than a little obsessed with William Shakespeare. I mean not only is he the most famous play-write in the world, as well as poet, he is also the most intriguing person! There’s very little anyone actually knows about him, obviously keeping documents in those days wasn’t high on the agenda and a lot of what we assume his life was like is based on theory and educated guesses. I love all of his works and anything about him.

6. I hate groups of people, but I also hate being alone.

7. None of my writing is ever good enough for me, but a friend told me I should still post it, as my standards are too high for anyone to achieve.

So that’s that, I’ve commented on the 5 blogs that I’ve awarded this to, and it’s now up to them whether they want to accept or not. But either way, they all deserve it.

Sunshine Award

20140423-142131.jpg

This award is passed on by bloggers to fellow bloggers who “positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.” and this has been awarded to me by the very kind Hafsa Baba, a brilliant blogger who I recommend to anyone, so thank you to him! I really do appreciate it.

The rules for this award are:

Display the Award Certificate on your website
Announce your win with a post and link to whoever presented your award
Answer the 10 questions given to you
Present the award to deserving bloggers
List 10 questions for them to answer
Drop them a comment to tip them off after you’ve linked them in the post

Now in regards to the 10 questions that need answering, unfortunately Hafsa Baba didn’t actually post any questions, but nothing to worry about! I will just answer the same questions that I put forward to the bloggers that I present the award to.

1. Where do you find inspiration?
It depends, sometimes it just comes to me, something that happens during the day, something I do, see or feel. When I’m struggling for an idea I tend to just have a look on here at other blogs and it’s not long before I’ve found something to write about.

2. Do you have a particular audience in mind when you write?
I think what makes my writing easy to do, is that whoever I’m writing about (if it’s not myself of course) I know they won’t be reading it. Obviously depending on what it is I’m writing too, if it’s a seductive or dark piece then it’s aimed at adults.

3. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher. I know it’s not as exciting as an astronaut or a singer or a firefighter…or even a writer or poet…but I always wanted to teach primary school children. I’d make my sisters and friends pretend they were pupils in my class and I’d be the teacher until they got bored of sitting still.

4. When/Why did you start your blog?
I only started mine at the start of this year, in January, with the hopes of just putting my things out there which I’d never done before, and it was a brilliant idea.

5. Who is your favourite writer/poet?
If we disregard the obvious William Shakespeare (my answer to everything!) I would say Charles Bukowski. I’ve only been aware of him for a couple of years. My boyfriend also loves him and bought me Ham on Rye to introduce him to me, and I couldn’t put it down. His style of writing in all his books and poetry is so fresh and real. I love it.

6. Do you ever get writers block? What do you do about it?
Quite often, I usually spend some time just thinking, a lot of my work is based on various moments and emotions in my own life, as I think I’ll never run out of ideas that way. If I really am stuck, just perusing other blogs will help.

7. Are you currently in love?
Very much so.

8. Is there a certain place that you prefer to write?
I can write anywhere, which I think is important. Inspiration can hit anywhere, so being able to write anywhere is a plus.

9. Do you do anything else creative?
I love to draw and paint, the pictures I post with some of my poetry are things that I’ve done.

10. What was the last thing that made you think “wow…”
It was an erotic poem written by one of the bloggers I’ve given this award to (I’m sure you can guess which one she is).

So here are the bloggers that I have chosen to give this award to. All of them have, in my opinion, been inspirational or positive or push the boundaries and write without fear. Give all of their blogs a look. And following them are the questions they are to answer.

Osharlequin

Sensual Desires

Retirement Legs

Paper Moments & Broken Lines

50 Shades of Me

(A couple of these bloggers don’t accept awards or re-post them, but regardless of this, I feel that these 5 are the people that inspire my the most and have a positive effect on the “blogosphere”. I want them to know this and I recommend all of them very highly)

1. Where do you find inspiration?

2. Do you have a particular audience in mind when you write?

3. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Dragon’s Loyalty Award

20140416-184957.jpg

I’d actually never heard of this award until Hafsa Baba nominated me for it, but I’m still very pleased! From the research I did, I found this –

It is an award for the loyal fan/commenter(s), whether the recipient is a fellow blogger or just someone who follows and comments/likes regularly.

It had some rules too which go as follows:

Display the Award Certificate on your blog
Announce your win with a post and link to whoever presented your award
Present the award to deserving bloggers
Drop them a comment to tip them off after you’ve linked them in the post
Post 7 interesting things about yourself.

So these are the bloggers that I’d like to give this award to, not only some of my favourite blogs but probably the faces I see most often in my notifications. So thanks to all of you, I really do appreciate your attention.

Now for the “7 interesting things” about me, which is always a difficult thing for me to do, since I don’t see myself as particularly interesting, but let’s give it a go…

1. I’m sure this is obvious from my posts recently, but I’m currently 13 weeks pregnant. It’s my first child. I was told I couldn’t have children, so when I saw the little blue plus sign on the pregnancy test it was a little bit of a shock! 5. I’m more than a little obsessed with William Shakespeare. I mean not only is he the most famous play-write in the world, as well as poet, he is also the most intriguing person! Liebster Blog Award

20140415-135604.jpg

That’s right! I’ve been nominated once again for the Liebster! This time by the wonderful Oldschool Harlequin at World of Harley (a brilliantly intriguing blog and a friend of mine). So to start with, thanks to you Harley! My attempts to have you write a post dedicated to me have been halted, for now…

I never know quite what to say on these things, do I big myself up? Get a huge ego? Act modest? I’m not sure I’ve ever successfully acted modest…

Anyway, as per Harley’s post, the rules are as follows –

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the 11 questions given to you.
3. Nominate 11 other blogs with less than 500 followers.
4. Post 11 questions for your nominees to answer.
5. Tag your nominees and post a comment on their blog to let them know you nominated them.

So here are the questions Harley asked his nominees –

1. Fantasy or Science Fiction?
Fantasy every time. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good sci-fi, but who would choose anything over fantasy? Fantasy is imagination, creativity, a world that you wish could be real.

2. Have you ever been disturbed by something you’ve written?
On occasions I read a poem back that I’ve written and think “oh wow…that’s a bit dark/twisted/psychotic”, but I wouldn’t say I’ve ever been disturbed, everyone has those tendencies deep down and being able to put it into words without even realising you’re doing it is quite liberating.

3. What keeps you writing?
Life. Is that cheesy? There’s always something to write about. Every moment is a new opportunity, a new inspiration, a new idea. If I didn’t write I’d implode from trying to keep it all inside.

4. What do want to write about, but haven’t yet?
I’ve always liked the idea of writing a novel. But I just don’t have the patience for it, I’m too lazy. That’s what I tell myself anyway, maybe it’s failure I’m avoiding.

5. What is your favourite type of fashion?
I don’t know any fashions, I’m really not interested in them. I wear whatever fits and looks alright. I don’t wear makeup or really style my hair. I’m not making myself sound very attractive here am I?

6. Describe your personality in 3 words.
Passionate (sometimes about all the wrong things).
Emotional (every emotion I feel seems more intense than others)
Lonely (it’s difficult to allow people in too deep)

7. Who was Jack the Ripper?
Is this a trick question? The guy that killed prostitutes in London and “never got caught”. Although I liked the From Hell theory.

8. Going to dress up for Halloween? What as?
I don’t dress up either, I avoid any reason to be in a big crowd, especially a big crowd of people dressed up…

9. Do you enjoy video games?
I do, very much! I’m an xbox girl, and it was a choice between doing this post or playing GTA…which Harley quite rightly said was an easy choice!

10. If yes, which games? If no, why not?
Assassin’s Creed, GTA, Gears of War, Dead Rising, Fable, Sleeping Dogs, Alice: Return to Madness and more…

11. What is your quote of the day?
Hell is empty and all the devils are here – William Shakespeare

Here are the 11 blogs I’ll be nominating, they’re all brilliant and in my opinion should be more popular! So hopefully this is the way to help.

I Will Stand For You

The Breath Of My Life

Observations And Other Writings

Lionessm

Lessons in Love and Madness

The Remnants of A Poet

Sensual Desires

The H is Silent

Away To Neverland

Quoetic

Free to Write

I’ve let all 11 of them know that they’ve been nominated and included a link to this post, so when they get here they can do a post of their own, answering these questions:

1. Explain the name of your blog, why did you choose it?

2. Do you prefer to handwrite or type your work?

3. List 3 books (if any) that you’ve read more than once.

4. Do you think alcohol/drugs etc enhance your writing capability?

5. Do you have a preferred time of day to write?

6. Why do you write?

7. Do you hope to write for a profession?

8. Is there anything you refuse to write about?

9. When listening to a song, do you focus more on the music or the lyrics?

10. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to read your work?

11. If you were getting a tattoo right now, what would you have?

And that’s that! Thank you again Harley, you diamond! I hope this brings some more well deserved traffic to my 11 nominees.

Over and out.

Liebster Nominations

Well hello! This is my first post that doesn’t involve a poem! So, the lovely Summer Yates has nominated me for this Liebster thing, which I didn’t know even existed…but then again, I only joined wordpress this week!

So as far as I know (from what I’ve seen on a few other blogs), if you get nominated you have to answer questions put to you first of all. Then you nominate another group of people that have less than 200 followers and ask them questions. And make sure you notify the people you nominate!

So let’s get down to it! The questions from Summer

1. Introvert or Extrovert? Books or Movies? Coke or Pepsi? Coffee or Tea? Sleep early or Wake up late? Introvert for sure. Books as you can get more absorbed in them. Pepsi Max! Neither. Wake up late.

2. If telling the truth would mean hurting someone, would it be better to lie? It totally depends on the situation. If it was something simple like telling someone their cooking was good when it wasn’t amazing, then a white lie is fine. But if it’s a big deal then the truth is always best, otherwise it will just come back and bite you in the behind.

3. If you were to make your name into a verb or an adjective what would it mean? “To inspire” and then I would have to try and live up to it.

4. Name 5 of your favourite anything. Shakespeare (writer/play write/poet), The Taker (novel), Charles Bukowski (author/poet), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (TV programme), Les Miserables (stageshow).

5. What would your last words be? I hope they’d be something memorable or funny, but they’d probably be something stupid like “going the shop!” before I get knocked over by a bus.

6. If you were to put a tattoo on yourself, what would you write? I have a tattoo on my wrist saying “All the world is a stage”.

7. Kill or be killed? Why? Depends on the situation, if I had a choice of killing someone or being killed, I’d be killed, to avoid living with guilt. But if it was like a fight for my life, natural instinct would take over (I hope).

8. Describe you version of a perfect day. At this moment in time it would be spending it with a certain someone, who I’m guessing wouldn’t appreciate a namesake on here since a lot of my work is about him haha.

9. What are your guilty pleasures? I’m a massive Harry Potter geek, ask me anything and I know it! I’m not ashamed of it, but it’s all I can think of.

10. Any unpopular opinion? Most of my opinions are unpopular.

11. If you could change just one thing, what would it be? The way I think, I’d like to be happier as a person. But I’m working on it.

Here are my questions, followed by the wonderful people that I nominate to answer them (I recommend them all!)

1. What’s the story behind your blog name?

2. What made you start a blog in the first place?

3. Who/what is your biggest inspiration?

4. Who is your favourite writer?

5. If you could be doing anything at all, regardless of money or education, what would it be?

6. What was the last thing you laughed at?

7. Do you prefer writing on paper or on a computer?

8. What’s your favourite TV show?

9. Do you smoke?

10. Do you game? Xbox or Playstation?

11. What was/is your favourite subject at school?
